Dental Health
There are a few areas of dental health which can be impacted by untreated tongue-tie.
Oral Hygiene - The ability of your tongue to debride (clean) your teeth after eating is dramatically reduced when tongue mobility is impaired. Prolonged presence of food particles leads to an increase in dental diseases, both dental decay and periodontal disease.
Jaw function - It has been observed that reduced ability to protrude the tongue (poke it out) can lead to a type of strain in the jaw joints over a prolonged time. This can be a precursor to long-term jaw joint problems.
